MOSUL, Iraq โ Gaz Shimali, an Iraqi Stars League club, announced the signing of Ghanaian midfielder Omar Bashiru ahead of the new season. Club president Wrya Jalal said Bashiru was acquired from Mosul Club as part of preparations for the upcoming campaign.
Jalal said Bashiru's technical ability and experience would strengthen the team's midfield, adding that the club aims to achieve positive results in the coming period. The club's management said it plans to continue transfer activity before the league begins, with the goal of adding competitive players to the squad.
The move comes days after Gaz Shimali announced that Syrian coach Raafat Mohammed would lead the team next season. Mohammed previously managed Syrian clubs Al-Jaish and Tishreen, Lebanon's Al-Ahed, and Jordan's Al-Faisaly. He won the Lebanese league title with Al-Ahed in the 2022-2023 season, followed by the Challenge Cup and the West Asian Cup the following year.
