Iraqi authorities seize rifles, grenades and 23 horses in Baghdad raid

BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraqi anti-corruption and security forces seized a large cache of weapons and 23 horses during a joint operation in the Arab Jubur area south of Baghdad, authorities said. The raid was carried out under a search warrant issued by a corruption investigation judge and involved the Commission of Integrity, the Baghdad Central Investigation Directorate, and several security and intelligence units.
Items confiscated from a civilian vehicle included 13 Kalashnikov rifles, PKC and M4 rifles, shotguns, pistols, 19 hand grenades and ammunition of various calibers, according to the statement. Three vehicles with separate license plates โ including a Land Cruiser and a Mercedes โ and additional vehicles under different registrations were also seized.
The operation drew in Popular Mobilization Forces Brigade 14's Arab Jubur command, regional intelligence units, the Federal Police 7th Division 2nd Regiment 2nd Battalion, and the Rashid Security Directorate's South Circuit Security Office. Electronic financial tools, including Mastercard cards and Zin Cash wallets linked to specific names, were also confiscated.
Authorities said the investigation is continuing to track illegal arms sources and suspected financial networks. No further details were immediately available on arrests or suspects.
