BASRA, Iraq โ Security forces in Basra province detained a man wanted on charges of document forgery, a local security official said. The arrest took place in the district of Nahrchir after security forces surrounded the suspect's location and took him into custody.
The suspect was identified as Murtaza Zuwayr, also known by the alias "Abu Karrar." The source said Zuwayr is a civilian wanted in connection with the forgery case and that the investigation has no further dimensions beyond that charge.
The official added that the operation is not linked to a wider wave of detentions involving officials, lawmakers and business figures. Zuwayr has been referred to the relevant authorities for the completion of investigative procedures.
In a separate statement, the Nahrchir local administration said the operation was carried out in coordination with security authorities to enforce an existing arrest warrant against a resident. The statement added that cooperation with judicial and security bodies aims to uphold the law and maintain security in the district.
