Iraqi PM orders acceleration of strategic oil export pipeline project

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Zeydi has ordered the acceleration of a strategic crude oil export pipeline project, the Prime Minister's Office said on Saturday. Zeydi said the project carries major strategic importance for Iraq, adding that it would diversify export routes and increase the country's export capacity. During a joint meeting on the project, Zeydi instructed the Ministry of Oil to provide the most suitable conditions for the work of the companies executing the project and to ensure it is completed to the highest standards. The meeting reviewed the project's technical and economic details, its long-term development impact and export options. Participants discussed the planned crude oil export volumes along the Basra–Hit–Fishkhabour and Hit–Baniyas pipeline routes. The meeting was attended by the Oil Minister, senior ministry officials, the Prime Minister's Office director general and representatives of the companies executing the project.
