Iraqi PM al-Zaydi meets UK ambassador in Baghdad, discusses ties and regional developments

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Ali al-Zaydi received UK Ambassador Irfan Siddiq in Baghdad, according to a statement from the Prime Minister's Press Office. The meeting covered bilateral relations and ways to expand cooperation across various fields. Al-Zaydi conveyed the Iraqi government and people's congratulations to Andy Burnham on assuming the office of UK prime minister, the statement said. The two officials also discussed regional developments during the talks. The prime minister stressed the need for dialogue and communication to end conflicts in the region and internationally. He warned that the ongoing war threatens the security of the region and the wider world.
