BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia' al-Sudani (as referenced in the title through his predecessor's naming convention) met with a Jordanian ministerial delegation led by Jordan's Minister of Industry, Trade and Supply Yarub Falah al-Qudah in Baghdad on Wednesday to advance cooperation on the Basra-Aqaba oil pipeline and broader trade ties. According to the Prime Minister's Office, talks focused on advancing the Basra-Aqaba oil pipeline project, easing visa procedures for businesspeople, and expanding cooperation in industry, energy, transportation and investment. Prime Minister al-Zaydi said Jordan represents "strategic depth" for Iraq, adding that bilateral relations would be elevated through increases in trade volume and investment opportunities. The Jordanian delegation conveyed congratulatory messages from King Abdullah II and Prime Minister Jafar Hassan on the formation of Iraq's new government. Minister al-Qudah affirmed Jordan's continued support for Iraq's progress on anti-corruption efforts and economic reforms. The delegation also extended a formal invitation to al-Zaydi to visit Jordan.
