BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Military Intelligence Directorate said a drug trafficker was arrested in Rumana district of Anbar province after security forces seized 28,000 captagon pills during an operation. The directorate said the arrest was carried out in line with instructions from the director of military intelligence to neutralize all drug traffickers and distributors.
According to a written statement, the Intelligence and Security Unit of the Seventh Infantry Division coordinated with other security units to detain the suspect after gathering intelligence and conducting a prolonged surveillance operation. The 28,000 captagon pills confiscated in Rumana were classified as narcotics, the directorate said.
The suspect, who was being sought under Article 28 of Iraq's narcotics law, was taken into custody along with the seized drugs and handed over to the relevant authorities to complete legal procedures, the directorate added. No further details were immediately available.
