Iraqi Football Federation Upholds Maysan Oil’s 3-0 Forfeit Over Player Eligibility

The Iraqi Football Federation’s Appeals Committee has officially upheld a 3-0 forfeit loss against Maysan Oil in their match against Al-Shorta. The ruling stems from the unauthorized fielding of Yemeni player Ahmed Al-Sarori, who failed to meet the mandatory requirement of representing his national team in an official match within the last three years. While Maysan Oil met the formal procedural requirements for their appeal, the committee rejected the substance of their argument. Officials clarified that while the federation had previously granted exceptions regarding player classification, the athlete in question failed to satisfy the essential technical eligibility criteria. The decision coincides with Air Force Club securing the league championship title. Maysan Oil management condemned the timing of the ruling and announced plans to escalate the dispute to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
