Iraq to see slightly cooler temperatures, generally clear skies through Wednesday

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Meteorological Authority said temperatures will edge down slightly starting Sunday, with generally clear weather expected across the country. In its forecast, the agency said Sunday will bring clear skies in central and southern regions and partly cloudy conditions in the north, with temperatures near current levels.
Forecast highs for Sunday include 34°C in Duhok, 35°C in Sulaymaniyah, 36°C in Erbil and Mosul, 38°C in Kirkuk and Anbar, 39°C in Saladin, 41°C in Baghdad, Diyala, Babil and Karbala, 42°C in Wasit and Najaf, 43°C in Diwaniyah, 44°C in Maysan, Muthanna and Basra, and 45°C in Dhi Qar. On Monday, central and southern areas will remain clear while the north stays partly cloudy, and temperatures are expected to drop slightly from the previous day.
Tuesday is forecast to bring clear skies nationwide, with occasional cloud cover in the north, and temperatures holding near Monday's levels. On Wednesday, weather will be clear to partly cloudy, with light to moderate northwesterly winds reaching more than 30 kilometers per hour in central and southern areas, raising light dust. Temperatures are expected to rise a few degrees, with horizontal visibility in dusty areas dropping to 3–5 kilometers.
