BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's meteorological authority warned Tuesday that temperatures across the country will climb above 40 degrees Celsius over the next two days, with central and southern regions bearing the brunt of the heat.
The Directorate of Meteorology and Seismic Monitoring said the capital Baghdad and surrounding areas will see a marked increase compared to Monday's readings. Northern provinces can expect partly cloudy conditions, while winds are not forecast to change significantly, with a low risk of dust storms.
Officials said temperatures will moderate somewhat during early morning and late night hours, but extreme heat will persist during daytime. Authorities urged citizens to avoid sun exposure, particularly around midday, and to stay hydrated.
No further details about the forecast were immediately available.
