BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Meteorological Organization said on Wednesday that limited parts of the country's southern cities are expected to see light rainfall during the day, while daytime temperatures will remain close to levels recorded a day earlier. According to the agency, Zikar and Maysan provinces are forecast to reach 50°C around midday.
The organization added that conditions are expected to ease slightly at night, but high temperatures are likely to persist for several more days across southern areas. Officials urged residents, particularly during midday hours, to take precautions against extreme heat.
The meteorological body said it will continue to monitor temperature trends and issue updates based on new data.
