BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraqi Prime Minister Ali Zeydi condemned a drone attack on Erbil and directed security forces to coordinate with Kurdish regional authorities to prevent further strikes. In a post on X, Zeydi said his government strongly denounces the assault carried out by drones that violated the airspace of Erbil, the capital of the Kurdistan Region of Iraq. He described the attacks as targeting public stability and state-building efforts, and pledged that no concessions would be made against such attempts.
Zeydi ordered relevant security bodies and formations to take all necessary steps with regional forces to stop further attacks and neutralize those responsible. A security source said explosions were heard over Erbil on Wednesday and that air defense systems intercepted the airborne objects. No further details on casualties or the origin of the drones were immediately available.
