Iraq's meteorological agency warns of continued high temperatures nationwide

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Meteorological Directorate said on Saturday that summer heat would persist across the country, including in the capital, Baghdad, with temperatures expected to peak during midday hours before gradually declining overnight. The agency noted that daytime temperatures would remain close to levels recorded the previous day. Officials said partly cloudy conditions could appear in parts of the eastern regions during the night, with skies expected to appear partially overcast in those areas. According to the statement, temperatures will continue to decline steadily from the afternoon into midnight, bringing relatively milder conditions. The Meteorological Directorate said similar weather patterns could continue in the coming days and advised citizens to avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight, particularly during midday hours. With Baghdad experiencing some of its highest weekly temperatures, experts urged the elderly and people with chronic illnesses to take precautions.
