BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Interior Ministry has issued emergency safety warnings to citizens as the country faces high temperatures, ministry spokesman Colonel Muhammad al-Hasun said. He said protecting the safety of people and their property is a priority during the current weather conditions.
Al-Hasun said the Civil Defense Directorate is operating around the clock and responding rapidly to fire incidents, with available vehicles and resources mobilized. He emphasized that public awareness plays a critical role in preventing fires, urging citizens to avoid overloading electrical circuits and to carry out regular maintenance of cables and appliances.
Other recommendations include supervising children and keeping basic firefighting equipment in homes and workplaces. Al-Hasun said citizens can report fires through the 24-hour national emergency line 911, and that the nearest Civil Defense team will be dispatched to the scene.
