BAGHDAD, Iraq — Iraq's Acting Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Abdulhussein al-Musawi, has granted universities additional authority to process master's degree applications, the Government's Press and Communications Office said. Under the decision, university, college and institute councils not affiliated with any university may award up to five extra points to applicants who scored between 40 and 44 on the competitive exam. The measure is intended to fill remaining vacancies in the approved admission plan, with the additional points used to identify the highest distinguishing score among the eligible candidates. The ministry set a three-day deadline for the completion of processing and placement procedures, starting from the date the directive was issued. Officials said no exceptions will be allowed and that all educational institutions must follow the established rules. Universities have been instructed to issue the necessary admission decrees once the process is finalized.
