Iraq's Hajj and Umrah Authority launches free transport plan in Najaf

NAJAF, Iraq — Iraq's Hajj and Umrah Authority has launched a free transportation service for visitors arriving in Najaf to mark the anniversary of the Prophet Muhammad's death, the authority said in a statement. The plan was implemented under the direction of Prime Minister Ali Falih al-Zaydi and the supervision of authority head Sheikh Sami al-Masudi. Buses designated to carry the visitors began operating on Wednesday, according to the statement. The service is intended to support state efforts during the large-scale commemorations and to facilitate the movement of pilgrims across Najaf and its surrounding areas. The authority said the buses will run 24 hours a day at no cost along designated routes around the city, offering safe and accessible transport options. It added that the plan will remain in place until the end of the visit program and the departure of the pilgrims.
