BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein arrived in Amman on Sunday evening to attend the Arab League Council's 165th ordinary session at the foreign minister level. Iraq's Foreign Ministry said the meeting is scheduled for Monday.
According to a ministry statement, the talks will address regional political and security developments as well as items on the council's agenda. Before the formal ministerial session, Arab foreign ministers are expected to hold a consultative meeting to coordinate common positions, the ministry said.
The ministry also said the session is expected to confirm the appointment of Egypt's former Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy as Secretary-General of the Arab League. The appointment follows a mandate given by leaders at a recent Arab summit, according to the statement.
