BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's National Security Advisor and Secretary-General of the Popular Mobilization Forces (PMF), Falih al-Fayyadh, said work to develop the forces and strengthen their institutional structure will continue, according to a statement from the PMF General Secretariat. He reiterated the commitment to consolidating the PMF's position within Iraq's security system.
The statement said steps to expand the forces' training, organizational capacity and field coordination will be maintained, with the PMF General Secretariat emphasizing that the group will operate within its legal framework and official structure. It added that professionalization, military discipline and alignment with Iraqi state sovereignty would guide the process.
According to the statement, the PMF will continue contributing to counterterrorism operations and broader stability efforts, while inter-institutional cooperation and coordination remain a priority for the force's effectiveness.
