BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Iraqi security officials said Thursday that a suspect wanted on multiple charges, including the 2014 Speicher massacre, has been extradited from Germany and brought into the country. The suspect faces allegations related to the mass killing of people at Camp Speicher, a case that remains one of the most significant ISIS-related investigations in Iraq. Iraqi security agencies said they are reviewing the individual's identity and the full scope of the charges as part of an ongoing inquiry. The Iraqi judiciary confirmed that legal proceedings against the suspect will begin in the coming days. The extradition was carried out under the existing bilateral framework on the transfer of suspects between Iraq and Germany, according to the Iraqi security sources. The operation was coordinated between security institutions in both countries. The Speicher massacre, in which hundreds of mostly Shia recruits were killed at a former Iraqi air force base near Tikrit, is widely viewed as one of the gravest atrocities of the ISIS conflict. Iraqi authorities have continued to pursue suspects linked to the attack through international legal channels, with cases previously referred to courts abroad.
