BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Munir Haddad, the Iraqi prime minister's legal adviser, said in a written statement on Monday that individuals using his name to operate fake accounts and websites have been spreading unfounded claims, and warned that legal action would be taken against them.
Haddad, who is based in Baghdad, said malicious actors had set up pages and sites in his name to circulate allegations targeting the Popular Mobilization Forces (Hashd al-Shaabi) and its commanders. He stated that these publications have no basis in fact, and that the fake content falsely claimed arrests and operations had been carried out.
The adviser emphasized that he had no authority to issue such statements, and that those producing the fake material would face prosecution on charges of identity impersonation and dissemination of misleading information. He also urged citizens not to rely on unofficial sources.
