BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraqi Prime Minister and Armed Forces Commander-in-Chief Ali Falih al-Zaydi chaired a meeting of the High Committee for Million-Visitor Pilgrimages on Thursday to review security and service plans for the 10th of Muharram and the 40th day marking the martyrdom of Imam Hussein. Al-Zaydi directed intelligence agencies to intensify their work to safeguard millions of domestic and foreign pilgrims and instructed security forces to avoid visible military displays along pilgrimage routes between cities.
The prime minister ordered all ministries and state institutions to be mobilized to handle pilgrim transportation and to secure the return phase of the journey. He also directed authorities to prepare a comprehensive security and service plan for the Arbaeen commemoration immediately after completing the 10th of Muharram arrangements.
Al-Zaydi further urged media outlets to avoid sectarian slogans in their coverage, emphasizing that Imam Hussein's message should be conveyed within the framework of universal human values. No additional details on the planned deployments or specific measures were immediately provided.
