Iraq Olympic Committee representative in Kirkuk resigns

KIRKUK, Iraq — The head of the Iraqi Olympic Committee's representative office in Kirkuk, Khalid, has resigned from his post, citing a lack of the support and cooperation required to carry out the role. In a statement, Khalid said he submitted his formal resignation after reviewing recent work, noting that the necessary backing and conditions for success had not been provided. He said he had done his best for the development of sport and athletes in Kirkuk, but that remaining in the position without the means to achieve set goals would not benefit the city's sporting community. Khalid stressed that his resignation applies only to the administrative role and that he will continue to support the sports sector. He expressed hope that Kirkuk's sporting achievements would grow further and wished local athletes continued success at both domestic and international levels.
