BAGHDAD, Iraq โ The United States imported approximately 15.1 million barrels of crude oil from Iraq in 2025, marking the lowest level in at least a decade, according to the U.S. Energy Information Administration.
The figure represents a decline from the 19.2 million barrels imported in 2024. Most shipments were directed to Gulf Coast refineries, while deliveries to the East Coast, Midwest and West Coast regions remained limited or halted entirely during certain periods.
The data reflects a sustained downward trend in bilateral oil trade since 2015-2016, when Iraq exported more than 100 million barrels annually to the United States. Analysts attributed the decline to changes in U.S. refinery processing operations, growth in domestic crude production, diversification of supply sources and shifts in crude oil demand.
