Iraq's national football team has been hit by a second attacking injury ahead of its June 26 World Cup group match against Senegal in Toronto, a federation medical official said.
Striker Mohanad Ali will miss the Senegal game and the rest of the tournament after picking up a groin injury against France, making him the second forward ruled out of head coach Graham Arnold's rotation. Aymen Hussein was earlier sidelined following the Norway match.
Arnold is expected to deploy Ali Hammadi and Ali Yusuf up front against Senegal and consider tactical changes. Iraq opened the 48-team World Cup with a 4-1 loss to Norway and a 3-0 defeat to France, a game halted for two hours because of weather conditions.
The Senegal fixture is Iraq's last chance to stay in contention for advancing from the group, with a best finish among third-placed teams its remaining target.
