BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Iraq's General Commission of Customs announced on June 24, 2026 that certificates of origin and commercial invoices issued by the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce can now be verified electronically through the ASYCUDA system. Under the new procedure, customs officials will confirm the validity of the documents during the customs declaration process by entering the relevant document numbers into the system. The General Commission of Customs said the system is currently in a trial phase and will become mandatory on July 10, 2026. Certificates of origin and commercial invoices that cannot be verified electronically will not be accepted, the commission added. The authority called on merchants, importers and customs brokers to register their commercial documents properly with the Federation of Iraqi Chambers of Commerce. Officials said the pre-verification of documents is expected to prevent delays once the mandatory phase begins.
