BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Justice Ministry said a vehicle carrying Justice Minister Khalid Shawani was struck by another car on the road to Baghdad International Airport on Sunday evening. Ministry media director Murad Saidi said the collision occurred at 9:30 p.m. in the Qadisiyah area along the airport's high-speed route.
According to an official traffic sketch report, full responsibility for the accident was assigned to the other driver, who was cited for excessive speed and traffic violations. The minister was traveling in a Chevrolet Tahoe that collided with a Land Rover, security sources said.
No injuries were reported, and damage was limited to the two vehicles and a roadside safety barrier. Authorities took the driver of the Land Rover into custody and said legal proceedings have been initiated against him.
