KUWAIT CITY, Kuwait โ Iraq's imports dropped to $51.1 billion in 2025, down more than $36 billion from the $87.4 billion recorded in 2024, according to international trade data. The decline marks a sharp reversal after four consecutive years of growth in Iraq's import volumes.
Imports had risen steadily from $60.9 billion in 2021 to $76.1 billion in 2022, $85 billion in 2023 and $87.4 billion in 2024. The 2025 figure represents the first year-over-year contraction in that period.
In the 2025 global import rankings, Iraq ranked behind Colombia, Ukraine, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Kazakhstan, while placing ahead of Kuwait, Oman and Qatar. The data comes from United Nations COMTRADE statistics and International Trade Centre calculations.
