BAGHDAD, Iraq — A projected heatwave in Iraq is expected to have a weaker impact than previous forecasts indicated, according to meteorologist Sadık Atiyye. Atiyye stated that the effect of the "heat dome" will be lower than recent models predicted due to the relative retreat of the high-pressure center in the upper atmosphere. This will result in only a slight increase in temperatures by mid-week, with no extreme or exceptional heatwave anticipated. Temperatures around 50 degrees Celsius may be recorded in some southern cities on Tuesday and Wednesday. However, Atiyye noted that despite the ongoing summer conditions, the increase in the central and southern regions will remain close to seasonal norms. A gradual decline in temperatures is expected toward the weekend as the influence of the warm air masses diminishes, returning values to daily averages.
