Iraq Football Federation sets August 5 date for club licensing vote

BAGHDAD, Iraq — The Iraqi Football Federation has closed its licensing system for clubs in the 2026-2027 Iraqi Stars League season and set a final vote date for August 5, the head of the federation's Licensing Department, Ammar Abdurrahman, announced. Abdurrahman said the licensing committee, chaired by Mohammed Kahtan, reviewed and audited all files uploaded by clubs to the system, working alongside the federation's women's football licensing director, Neda Sharif. The committee will hold the final vote to determine which clubs are granted or denied licenses. August 5 was set as the confirmed voting date, with August 7 designated as the deadline for clubs to submit appeals against committee decisions. The timetable finalizes the remaining evaluation and appeal stages for clubs preparing for the new season.
