BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's National Security Advisory said security forces disrupted an attempt to manufacture armed unmanned aerial vehicles in Baghdad, detaining three suspects. The advisory said the individuals were producing drones to be weaponized for use inside the capital.
Security forces raided the production sites used by the suspects and seized equipment and materials, the advisory said. It added that operations targeting such schemes, which it described as aimed at undermining domestic security and stability, remain under monitoring.
Officials said the investigation is ongoing and that the detainees will be referred to judicial authorities. No further details were immediately available on the group's affiliations or the intended targets of the armed drones.
