BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Iraq's Ministry of Interior said 32 people found to be in violation of the country's residency law have been deported through Baghdad and Basra international airports. The ministry said the deportations were carried out by teams from the Basra Residency Unit under the supervision of the Director General of Passports, Residency and Nationality. According to the statement, the deportation orders were issued after legal and administrative procedures were completed, and the operation was conducted on the instructions of the Interior Minister's Senior Undersecretary. The ministry did not specify the nationalities of those deported or the destinations to which they were returned. The Interior Ministry added that it will continue to monitor individuals found to be in breach of Iraq's Residence Law No. 76 of 2017 and that the necessary legal measures will be applied.
