Iraq arrests two former officials in Dhi Qar land allocation probe

DHI QAR, Iraq — Security forces in Iraq's southern Dhi Qar province have detained two former officials during an operation targeting land allocation files. The head of the land allocation unit at the health directorate and the former legal affairs officer of Nasiriyah's municipality were taken into custody, a local security source said. The operation was carried out on Monday, and authorities recovered a large number of land allocation documents from the suspects and their belongings. Security officials said the files were being transported from one location to another in central Nasiriyah at the time of the arrest. Both detainees were transferred to a designated detention facility to complete legal procedures. Officials said the investigation is ongoing and that the contents of the seized files are still being examined. No further details were immediately available.
