BAGHDAD, Iraq โ€” Iraq's monthly inflation rate rose 1.7 percent in April compared with March, according to data released by the Central Statistics Organization under the Ministry of Planning. The annual inflation rate increased 4.3 percent compared with the same month last year. The International Monetary Fund's April projections placed Iraq among the more stable economies in the Arab world, with a medium-term inflation rate of approximately 3 percent. Regional comparisons showed Sudan at 74.1 percent, Egypt at 13.2 percent and Tunisia at 6.5 percent. Iraq's current inflation rate of approximately 1.5 percent ranks among the lowest in the region, according to IMF data.
