BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's Federal Anti-Corruption Commission said Tuesday that an employee of the Oil Ministry has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for embezzling 1.174 billion Iraqi dinars in public funds in Ninawa province.
According to the commission's written statement, the First Chamber of the Ninawa Felony Court issued the sentence during a preparatory hearing in the case of a clerk assigned to a state-owned fuel-filling station in the province.
The court said the funds were derived from petroleum-product sales revenue at the station for the SeptemberโOctober 2025 period. The ruling was issued after the examination of evidence gathered in the case file.
The court found the defendant guilty under Article 315 of the Iraqi Penal Code, according to the commission. No further details on restitution or appeal were immediately provided.
