BAGHDAD, Iraq โ Iraq's General Customs Authority has activated an electronic invoice verification feature within the ASYCUDA customs system, the authority said in a June 24, 2026 statement. The new function allows financial and commercial invoices attached to customs declarations to be checked in real time, with document consistency reviewed automatically.
The authority set July 10, 2026 as the deadline for all customs offices to begin actively using the feature. Officials said the digital query is intended to speed up the detection of forged or non-compliant paperwork and reduce manual review.
The decision is expected to improve customs transparency and shorten administrative steps in trade transactions, according to the authority. ASYCUDA is a customs management platform developed by the United Nations and used in many countries to track trade data electronically.
No further details on implementation or enforcement measures were immediately available.
