TEHRAN, Iran — TEHRAN — Iran has announced the official schedule of funeral and burial ceremonies for Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei and members of his family killed alongside him. According to the released timetable, farewell ceremonies will be held on July 4–5, 2026 (19–20 Muharram) at the Imam Khomeini Mosalla in Tehran.
The main funeral service is scheduled for July 6, 2026 (21 Muharram) in the capital. The following day, July 7 (22 Muharram), the body will be transferred to the holy city of Qom. A final ceremony will be held in Mashhad on July 9, 2026 (24 Muharram), after which Khamenei will be laid to rest at the Imam Reza Shrine.
Authorities called on the public and sympathizers worldwide to attend the memorial events and emphasized that the Iranian people serve as the primary mourners in organizing the program. Officials said further details of the ceremonies will be announced in the coming days.
