Iran's official news agency IRNA on Tuesday denied social media reports that a delegation travelling to Switzerland to sign a memorandum of understanding with the United States had been cancelled, calling the claims "baseless and unfounded."
The agency said work on the text of the agreement, aimed at ending conflict on all fronts, was completed in the early hours of Monday. The deal is scheduled to take effect formally on Friday, according to IRNA.
The denial comes after social media posts claimed Iran had cancelled Friday's signing ceremony over attacks on Lebanon. IRNA did not address those specific claims in the statement reported by Turkish outlets, and the venue in Switzerland has not been publicly confirmed by US officials.
No further details on the timing or participants of the signing were immediately available.
