TEHRAN, Iran โ Iranian state media said Wednesday evening that a U.S. military vessel was targeted in the Gulf of Oman as it approached Iranian territorial waters. The report said the vessel carried a โcommand and control center.โ
U.S. Central Command rejected the claim and said there had been no attack on any American military ship in the Gulf of Oman. CENTCOM said U.S. forces were continuing operations in the region as normal.
The command previously said that, under a naval blockade in place since April 13, six ships had been stopped and 125 vessels had been diverted.
On the same day, the United States said it had struck an oil tanker that was trying to break the blockade on Iranian ports. Iran said it responded with missile and drone attacks on Bahrain and Kuwait.
