Iran says it struck US assets at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain

TEHRAN, Iran — TEHRAN — Iran's military said it carried out strikes Thursday evening against US drones, generators, navigation systems and administrative and service buildings at Sheikh Isa Air Base in Bahrain, the 26th stage of an operation it calls True Promise (Saiqa). The Iranian army statement said recent attacks on US bases in the region caused serious damage to American equipment and facilities despite advanced defense systems. It described Sheikh Isa as one of the Gulf's most important and sensitive US installations, housing a critical center for the maintenance and repair of reconnaissance aircraft, helicopters and drone spare parts. The army claimed its strikes inflicted heavy damage on the combat and logistical support capacity of US forces stationed at the base. Bahraini authorities have said in recent days and weeks that repeated Iranian attacks were intercepted and that the strikes deliberately targeted civilians. The Bahraini Interior Ministry reported that sirens sounded across the country and called on residents to take shelter at the nearest safe location.
