WASHINGTON, United States โ Sources close to Iran's state media rejected claims by US President Donald Trump that Washington and Tehran had reached a deal, with one source close to the negotiating team calling the reports "completely baseless."
The source said Iran's review and decision-making process was not yet complete, making Sunday and Geneva unacceptable as a signing date and venue. The denial comes after Trump said an "agreement" had been reached on war with Iran, with final arrangements to be concluded in the coming days.
Bloomberg reported Friday that Washington and Tehran would sign a memorandum of understanding in Geneva on Sunday. The agency said the deal would amount to a preliminary understanding rather than a final agreement, and cited a G7 official as saying the signing could take place during the group's weekend meeting.
No further details on the status of the negotiations were immediately available.
