TEHRAN, Iran — TEHRAN — Iranian authorities have declared a three-day official holiday in the capital, Tehran, to coincide with the funeral of former Iranian leader Ali Khamenei. Officials said the funeral and farewell ceremonies would last several days, after which the body will be transferred to the cities of Qom and Mashhad for the completion of religious and official rites.
Iranian media reported that major sites in Tehran have been designated to receive guests attending the ceremonies and that extensive security measures are in place. Logistical preparations are continuing across the capital, with controlled transportation arrangements to the ceremony venues.
Iranian officials urged citizens to follow public order and security guidance, noting that high attendance is expected at the funeral. Government institutions nationwide will operate at reduced capacity during the holiday period, while emergency services will remain on duty.
