TEHRAN, Iran — TEHRAN — Iran's Hatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters described movements of Israeli warplanes in neighboring countries as a "serious action" and a new threat against Iran, according to a statement issued Friday.
The headquarters said Iran would not tolerate any threat directed at it if the United States failed to restrain Israel. It added that Iran reserves the right to respond to what it called "serious" steps taken against it.
The statement came a day after Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said operations against Iran, Hezbollah and Hamas would continue and that Iran would not be permitted to develop nuclear weapons.
Tehran has previously characterized Israel's expanding military presence in the region as a direct threat to its own security and has reiterated its right to respond. No further details on the timing or nature of any potential response were provided.
