MUSCAT, Oman โ Iran and Oman reiterated their commitment to maintaining security in the Strait of Hormuz and keeping maritime passage open, according to Omanโs state news agency. The two sides met in Muscat, where they stressed the need to ensure navigational safety and the continuity of maritime traffic through the strategic waterway.
The talks were held during a visit by an Iranian delegation led by Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi. The delegation held a series of meetings with senior Omani officials in the capital.
The two sides agreed to establish a joint commission based on international law to regulate transit security in the Strait of Hormuz. They said the commission would safeguard the sovereignty of Iran and Oman over all arrangements concerning the strait.
