Iran accuses US and Israel of violating June 18 ceasefire memorandum

TEHRAN, Iran — Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi accused the United States and Israel of violating the memorandum of understanding signed on June 18, saying breaches of its first article were obstructing the restoration of regional security and stability. Speaking to the Tasnim news agency, Araghchi said Iran would continue to implement the memorandum in good faith and under the principle of "commitment for commitment," but would take firm steps against any breach by the other side. The June 18 memorandum between Iran and the United States called for ending the war across all fronts, including Lebanon, lifting sanctions on Tehran, ending the maritime blockade against Iran, and reopening commercial navigation through the Strait of Hormuz within 30 days. It also outlined conditions tied to a broader de-escalation framework involving regional parties. Tensions have escalated sharply in recent days. US forces carried out airstrikes on Iranian radar and surveillance facilities, and Tehran responded by targeting American positions in the region.
