TEHRAN, Iran โ The military spokesman for Yemen's Houthis, Yahya Saree, said Saudi warplanes attempted to prevent an Iranian civilian aircraft from landing at Sanaa airport and warned that Saudi airports and strategic targets would be struck from land and sea if Saudi Arabia continues violating Yemeni airspace. Saree added that flights between Sanaa and Tehran would continue.
The Saudi-led coalition responded that any such attempts would be countered with unprecedented force in accordance with international humanitarian law. The coalition said it remains determined to respond to any targeting of Saudi Arabia or its citizens, or any violation of Yemen's sovereignty, and that it would take necessary steps as required.
The exchange of statements comes amid an ongoing military escalation linked to control of Yemeni airspace.
