Hemorrhagic fever confirmed in two siblings in Nineveh's Bashika district

MOSUL, Iraq — Health authorities in Nineveh province have confirmed two cases of hemorrhagic fever in siblings from the Bashika area east of Mosul, the provincial health directorate said. The patients, a 24-year-old and a 25-year-old, presented on July 6 as suspected cases at Ibn Sina Teaching Hospital. The hospital activated approved medical protocols for the admitted patients and sent blood samples to the Central Public Health Laboratory. Laboratory results issued on Friday confirmed that both siblings were carrying the hemorrhagic fever virus, according to a medical source within the directorate. The two patients were transferred to al-Shifa Hospital for treatment and continued medical care. The Nineveh Health Directorate said their conditions are being closely monitored, and gave no further details on their health status.
