Hashdi Shabi, Defa al-Jawi Advance to Basketball Playoffs

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Hashdi Shabi and Defa al-Jawi secured their spots in the Iraqi Basketball Super League play-offs after winning their quarterfinal matches. Hashdi Shabi defeated Sabis 65-58 in Baghdad, while Defa al-Jawi beat University of Dhi Qar 77-66. Both teams now advance to the postseason following the quarterfinal round. The tournament's quarterfinal stage continues with two more matches scheduled for Wednesday. Maysan Petroleum will face Nineveh Workers in the first game, followed by Zakho taking on Hilla in the evening matchup. Defa al-Jawi finished first in Group 1 after completing the second stage of the competition, while Maysan Petroleum leads Group 2, according to league standings.
