NASIRIYAH, Iraq โ A girl was seriously wounded by a stray bullet during a gunfight at a five-a-side football pitch in the Al-Gharaf district, north of Dhi Qar province, Iraqi security sources said. The shooting broke out after an argument between two groups escalated to the use of firearms, according to the sources. The girl, who was not involved in the dispute, was hit in the head and taken to hospital, where officials said she remained in critical condition.
In a separate incident the same day, the body of a man in his thirties was found inside a car in an area south of Nasiriyah, the provincial capital. The cause of death has not yet been determined, and the body was transferred to the forensic medicine department pending legal procedures.
Investigations into both incidents are ongoing. No further details were immediately available.
