Four women detained for shoplifting cosmetics in Kalar, Kurdistan Region

BAGHDAD, Iraq — Four women were taken into custody in Kalar, a city in Iraq’s Kurdistan Region, after being caught stealing cosmetic products from a shop, local police said.
The Kerimyan Administrative Police Directorate said in a statement on Sunday that the owner of a cosmetics store in the city had filed a complaint with the crime-fighting unit. According to the statement, investigators launched examination and evidence-collection work after a quantity of cosmetic items was reported stolen from the shop.
During the inquiry, four suspects were apprehended and confessed to the crime during initial questioning and before the investigating judge, the directorate said. The investigating judge ordered the suspects detained and opened an investigation file against them under Article 443 of the Iraqi Penal Code.
Legal proceedings against the four women are continuing, according to the police statement.
