Four Palestinians killed in Israeli strikes on Gaza as ceasefire violations mount

CAIRO, Egypt — GAZA — Palestinian health officials said an Israeli airstrike on an apartment building in Deir al-Balah, in central Gaza, killed a father, mother and their six-year-old daughter on Tuesday. A son from the same family was wounded in the attack. Separately, ambulance crews in Gaza City reported that another person was killed in an Israeli airstrike on the Sheikh Ridwan neighborhood. Health officials said the four deaths brought the total number of Palestinians killed in Israeli strikes since the ceasefire took effect in October to more than 1,100, the majority of them civilians. The strikes came a day after Hamas leaders concluded another round of talks in Cairo with mediators on the second phase of U.S. President Donald Trump's Gaza peace plan, according to officials familiar with the discussions. The negotiations were reported to have made little visible progress on the disarmament of Hamas and the withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza, with both sides citing deep mutual distrust.
